Competition is driving the growth of mobile telecommunications into new markets, particularly in personal communications. This report examines the pricing strategies used by mobile telecommunications operators in different markets in the OECD area. It finds that higher growth rates have been achieved in openly competitive markets than in tohse with duopolies and monopolies and urges governments to maintain the pace of reform in this area.
