<p>The author of the Cameos of Confederate Chaplains wrote these over a span from 2005 to 2015. They were his contributions to an e-journal that he edits for the Chaplains Corps of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.The cameos are representative of the many Confederate Chaplains working for the Lord during the valiant defense of their families, homes and country. Some of these men gave their lives in service for Christ and others lost their health serving in very harsh environments. Their sacrifice was for the glory of God, for the spreading of the gospel of salvation through Christ alone and for the purpose of ministering to men many of whom they knew would not outlive the war.Perhaps the following could be considered as a motto of this band of brothers-"I think it worth a lifetime of hardship to prepare, under God, one of our dear defenders thus to die," Chaplain J. Wm. Jones. This book is dedicated to the memory of these men of God who being dead yet speak (Hebrews 11:4).</p>

Some of the material has been freshly written or specifically collected from original sources in order to give a historical sampling of what those celebrations in the Confederate South. In this book is the presentation of the prose and poetry of the era. This book is presented to provide the reader with pertinent information regarding the last Christian nation in this hemisphere called the Confederate States of America.

<p>This book is the culmination of a project that originated as an encouragement to pastors. It began with a weekly e-mail (A Lord's Day Snippet) delivered on Sunday mornings as an aid to pastors preparing to lead their congregations in the worship of the living God. Each snippet combined words from a hymn, a passage of Scripture often from William Tyndale's magisterial translation, a brief, insightful exposition and a closing word of encouragement from a past preacher of the gospel. It was discovered that this met a great need in the church. These also were found to be helpful to non-pastors as well. The words of encouragement encompassed a much wider scope than could have ever been anticipated. Those who received the weekly e-mail looked forward to it as an important aspect of preparing their hearts for worship (whether leading in worship or participating as part of a congregation). As happens with the internet, the e-mails were often forwarded and reached an ever-widening audience.</p>
