With the coming of the railway the place boomed and Morecambe, as it came to be called, rivalled Blackpool as the mecca for the mill workers and miners of Lancashire and Yorkshire. It became known as Bradford-by-the-Sea.\nRoger Bingham charts the rise and fall of this fascinating town. It is a story full of drama and anecdotes; of council bosses and variety stars.\nIs Morecambe finished as a town? Not by any means says the author - and hence the question mark in the title.</p>
