About the Author: Robert Godwin Robert Godwin traveled the world as an Air Force "brat” before graduating high school in Bryan, Texas. His own career in the Air Force lasted two years at the Air Force Academy before leaving due to a knee injury. Limping into Austin, he attended UT as a Middle Eastern Studies major. His photojournalism career began with part-time work leading to a full time position at the Austin Citizen daily paper. The Citizen closed its doors in 1981 and Godwin found himself as a freelance photographer. His first retainer came from Austin Homes and Gardens magazine from 1982-1986. He then added the West Austin News 1987-2011 as his primary venue. He continues covering the social/charity scene as a freelancer for the Austin American-Statesman and as a media consultant for the St David’s Foundation. Thus far, he has attended over 20,000 events and taken over 400,000 photos.

The Lunar Module Familiarization Guide is a combination of several documents which include detailed diagrams of the interior of the final flight model of the Lunar Module, the instrumentation, a fold-out of the instrument panels, maps and plan views of the vehicle, diagrams of the main onboard systems and more. These interviews were conducted while the crew were at NASA headquarters just days before departing for the moon. The audio and film of these interviews have never been combined together or aired uncut. The audio from these interviews was provided by the interviewer who had stored the tapes for 40 years. In 1919 the Gaumont Motion Picture Studio created the first movie to ever be based entirely on a famous science fiction novel. That movie was an adaptation of H.G. Wells The First Men in the Moon. Wells himself was on hand to oversee the costumes and sets.
A lost treasure of the silent era of film, the movie is now believed to be lost forever. In 2010 The British Film Institute named it one of the 75 "most desirable" missing films.
In 2013 noted writer/editor Robert Godwin uncovered a series of artifacts from the film's original release including a complete synopsis of the plot (different to Wells' book), newspaper reviews and most importantly a series of still images from the production. During the 12 months between October 1957 and September 1958 engineers, doctors and a host of Air Force Colonels and Generals began a concerted effort to persuade President Eisenhower to allow them to take control of the United States' future space efforts, and to place humans into space no later than 1960 and then send them to the surface of the moon by 1964. In February 1958, without going through the usual gauntlet of hearings the Air Force brass were informed that they were in charge of the country's space program. Emboldened by this unexpected surprise a team of more than 60 Air Force staff quickly put together a long-range plan for the exploration of space. This new plan included the evolution of Air Force missiles from the Thor, through the Titan, to the Super-Titan and ultimately to the 2,200,000 lb thrust "Big B" booster. The proposed spacecraft carried acronym names like MISS, MISSOPH, LUREC and finally LUMAN, for the manned lunar lander. This book includes the official Air Force history of these events, for many years classified as "SECRET." It explains how many of these ideas ended up being adopted by NASA and led to the Space Race of the 1960s.
