His accounts include the Peninsular Campaign, the battles of Seven Pines, Spotsylvania, the North Anna, Cold Harbor, Peeble's Farm, and Petersburg. He also gives insight into the social and cultural life of wartime Washington, DC. Fully annotated and indexed.</p>
