Set in the 1960s, 6900 Heidelberg tells the story of Jesse Winchester, a young army specialist stationed in Germany. Germany in the '60s is a liberal free-for-all, with drugs and sex available for the asking and rock 'n' roll as the soundtrack--and Jesse is no innocent to it all. Getting out of the army, growing his GI-cut hair, and living it up are his major occupations. Eventually, Jesse settles down. He goes back to the States, marries, and supports himself by writing. But he finds that memory--and the memory of one woman in particular--is a hard thing to shake.
