The symposium, co-sponsored by the Academia Europaea and the International Academy of Education, drew education theorists from Europe, both Americas, and Australia. Among specific topics are the von Humboldt legacy and the contemporary European university, enhancing teaching-learning environments to encourage deep learning, and countries in transition facing globalization.
