Mr. Penman has done it again with this practical guide to building a time-only weight-driven brass movement. The machining steps for all parts are shown with complete illustrations, specifications and measurements. No detail is left to chance. Many tools and jigs are shown as well as the steps needed to make high-quality fly cutters for cutting the wheel teeth. He also lists where to get the pinion blanks. Of most interest to me is the unique "Penman Escapement" which is detailed in the book described as "a new form of recoil anchor escapement" which is easy to make, adjustable and fool-proof in operation. Needed are a lathe and drill press and typical machine shop hand tools and measuring devices. All measurments are metric so invest in a high-quality inch-metric mic if you don't already have one.
