<p>The text of this volume is an interpretive work that puts the history of Denton County in perspective from its earlier times as a family farming region to its status in the 1990s as a pleasant suburban residential county. The pictures were selected in order to illustrate the history of all parts of the county and the entire period covered by the book. This volume should be especially welcome because 1996 is the 150th anniversary of the organization of the county. Longtime residents of the county will enjoy it, but this work is designed to be especially appealing to the large number of newer county residents.</p>
