Geospaces is an extended visual essay of ideas, images, drawings and projects that follows the work of Alper Derinbo&#287;az over the past decade, framing an approach to architecture based on empathy with earth. Architectural history is a fragment of the long evolution of forms of habitat. The shape of the lands and the way we inhabit them are at the root of all architectural endeavours. However, our established conception of architecture is based on a hierarchy between nature and culture. To move towards an architecture more in tune with earth, we need to thinkin continuities, looking at the emergence of natural forms, the history of human inhabitation and the future of fabrication technologies. What if we see buildings as iterations of nature rather than artificial objects? Exploring architecture through the lens of evolution, Geospaces traces relationships between topography, geology, genetics, ecologies, and construction technologies, arguing that a hybrid approach to making will shape our future habitats. This catalog documents an exhibition at the Cini Foundation in Venice from 12 May to 15 July 2021 during the Venice Biennale of Architecture Highlights the relationship of Italian architects to regions east of Italy that have seen significant social and urban changes over the past 30 years 
This catalog for an exhibition at the Fondazione Cini in Venice presents stories of places and cities to the east of Italy, and highlights the tales and experiences of Italian architects and travellers. Six internationally famous Italian architects – Renzo Piano, Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas, Archea Associati, Piuarch, Michele De Lucchi and Mario Cucinella – will showcase projects in Russia, China, Albania, Georgia and Vietnam, with the addition of contextual materials from the Fondazione Cini archives. The narrative of convergence and dialog between Italian culture and these places emphasizes the significance of the unique Italian relationship to these countries and their cultures through the centuries.

Sergei Tchoban was born in 1962in St Petersburg, Russia. Between 1980 and 1986 he studied at the Ilya Repin Institute, Russian Academy of Arts, St Petersburg. From 1986 to 1990 he was involved in practical work as a graduate architect in Russia. In 1992, he began working with Nietz - Prasch - Sigl, Hamburg, and in 1995 as a partner of Nietz - Prasch - Sigl und Partner Architekten BDA, Hamburg, Berlin, Dresden, heading the Berlin branch. In 2003, they relaunched as NPS Tchoban voss Architekten BDA, while in 2006 he founded the architectural studio SPEECH in Moscow. In 2009, he established the Tchoban Foundation - Museum for Architectural Drawing in Berlin and in 2010 he opened the studio ST Design. Introduced by a text by Santiago Calatrava and one by Massimiliano Fuksas, this monograph presents the architecture drawings of Sergei Tchoban, including architectural fantasies as well as images of existing architecture from his travels all around Europe.
