The Complete Guide to Ireland's Birds was published in 1993 and quickly established itself as the best and most comprehensive such guide ever produced. It was a best seller. What made it unique was that it covered all species recorded in Ireland to that date, and did so using an original layout including birds in typical poses as well as standard identification plates. Finding Birds in Ireland: The Complete Guide

This is the English translation of the Annals of Ireland by the Four Masters as translated by Connellan. It starts from the year 1507 A.D.. (This is Part Two of the annals. Part One covers the timeline before 1507.). Due to the expense and importance of this work we publish this volume on its own here. This translation of the Annals was the first ever made into English. Includes four color frontispiece, extensive footnotes of genealogical and historical importance. Also included is the large folding map at the rear of the volume, showing the locations of Irish Families on it. The original index to the complete set is also included. Gold stamped cover is decorated with Celtic lettering from the Annals themselves.

This was the first translation of these annals into English. It was published in 1846, and appears here exactly as the copy in the IGF library, with additions. The time period covered by the Four Masters here is from the 12th to the 17th century, with annotations covering the earliest times in Irish History. This is a two volume set, with color frontis in each, and a large folding map showing the location of families as given in the annals themselves. Celtic lettering is found on specific pages. New IGF map index included in this edition only. There is no comparable work to that of the Four Masters in Irish History and genealogy.

This authority states that Turlough Roe was accompanied by twelve horsemen, and makes no allusion whatever to any treachery on the part of the Mac Feoraises. This passage is very badly given by the Four Masters, who ap pear to have patched it up from various annals. That title was first given them by Colgan, who explains his reasons for so doing, in the preface to his Acta Sanctorum, to be presently cited; to which we may add, that Quatuor M agistri had been long previously applied by the medical writers of the middle ages to the four masters of the medical sciences, and that this circumstance probably suggested to Colgan the appellation he has given to the compilers of these Annals.
