Three Kids on a Mule is the fast-paced story of three kids who must overcome storms, Indians, rustlers, outlaws and a mean uncle to find their long-lost family in the Territory of New Mexico. Minnie, thirteen, Robert, eleven, and Lizzie, eight, lose their parents in an influenza epidemic in the winter of 1878. After the kids are taken to live with their uncle, they are worked, whipped, starved, tricked and abused. When personal and family belongings are stolen from them, they run away with their dog, Bullet, to find an uncle in the Territory of New Mexico. The kids encounter hunger, rattlesnakes, floods, mud and tornadoes. Outlaws try to kill them, cattle rustlers chase them, Indians befriend them and the U.S. Cavalry takes them to the headwaters of the Blackwater stream. They rise above adversity and overcome their trials using the skills their parents taught them.

This is one of the stories of the Kidd and Carter families, whose saga stretched from Virginia, Kentucky and Tennessee to Texas and the Territory of New Mexico. Some of them came to Texas before Independence, but returned east to fight in the Civil War. They were farmers, ranchers, freighters, miners, soldiers, Army officers, blackguards, and even preachers. Generation after generation have verbally repeated their epic of moving to West Texas and to the Territory of New Mexico. Some information was gleaned from diaries, genealogy studies and a little from history. But, more importantly, these stories are about courage, forgiveness, love, tenacity and the belief in God and country. Nate Carter was a member of one of these families. In his own words, he was ". . . a low-down, sorry skunk." Most of the people who thought they knew him believed so, as well. However, they probably didn't know the real Nate. Read this story and you just might form a different opinion about him.

Nate's Redemption

This is the second in a series of books about Cornelius, a person who did not know about God in his earlier days.  However, he eventually learned about God and his powers.  You may begin to recognize God's influence in Cornelius' life in this book.  It is quite clearly there.  Just continue reading.  It is faith that will help you in this quest.
