<p>Following his retirement from the U.S. Navy and the Philadelphia Diocese, Connell J. Maguire joined a writing workshop in Riviera Beach, Fla., where he began writing plays. At the encouragement of fellow members of the workshop, he also tried his hand at prose. "Follies of a Navy Chaplain" is a collection of vignettes, along with a handful of poems and a pair of one-act plays, reflecting the author's view of Ireland, America, the Navy, and the priesthood through a pair of smiling Irish eyes. "Follies of a Navy Chaplain" will make you laugh some, and cry a little.</p>
