Antes de emprender con ustedes este viaje de aventuras, que transcurren y atraviesan esta inmensa y fantástica geografía, desde la costa sur de la India hasta las místicas cumbres nevadas de los Himalayas, conociendo individuos extraordinarios y compartiendo experiencias inusuales e increíbles, quisiera añadir unas pocas palabras que pondrán todo en la perspectiva correcta. 
Hasta ahora, he mantenido la mayor parte de las experiencias que he escrito en este libro, muy cerca de mi corazón. Ni siquiera mis más íntimos amigos podían convencerme de revelar algo más que un indicio de lo que estaba escondido en lo más profundo de mi conciencia. 
¿Por qué esta reserva? y ¿por qué ahora decido revelar el secreto? Las respuestas a estas preguntas merecen ser contestadas ahora mismo. 
Mi Maestro Babaji había dado a entender que, en algún momento, yo iba a escribir una autobiografía. Sin embargo, la aprobación del Maestro, que yo esperaba, no llegó hasta hace dos años. Incluso después de su señal, deliberé por más de seis meses, antes de comenzar a escribir a regañadientes, principalmente por dos razones. 
Por un lado, tenía miedo de que, atrapado en la fantasía de la fascinante saga, el aspirante espiritual sincero podría perder de vista los aspectos prácticos y necesarios del viaje espiritual. 
Por otro lado, que el lector crítico, encontrando algunas partes de la narración increíblemente extrañas, podría desestimar todo el libro como una patraña. 
Sin embargo, había fuerzas que inclinaban la balanza a favor de la redacción de esta autobiografía. 
En primer lugar, se me ocurrió que era asunto mío escribir lo que he experimentado y dejar a la pequeña minoría de escépticos lectores decidir si aceptarlo o rechazarlo. Yo sentía que era injusto con la mayoría de los lectores, al dudar de contar mi historia por temor a las minorías. 
En segundo lugar, después de la aparición de la Autobiografía de un yogui de Swami Yogananda, muy pocas biografías espirituales auténticas han aparecido, y aun así, los escritores de las mismas ya no están vivos y disponibles para mantener discusiones con ellos. También, por muy auténtica que es la autobiografía de Swami Yogananda, él no había pasado personalmente mucho tiempo en los Himalayas. Por lo tanto, pensé que era importante que relatase mis experiencias, especialmente las que he tenido en los Himalayas, ahora mismo que puedo estar a disposición del lector para poder conversar sobre las inquietudes que se le presenten. 
En tercer lugar, mi relato intenta acercar las experiencias de dos grandes maestros como Babaji y Sri Guru, que influencian la marea de la evolución espiritual en silencio, detrás de las escenas, a pesar de que muy pocos saben de su existencia. 
Hago un llamamiento a los lectores para, si es necesario, hacer caso omiso de aquellas partes que parecen como demasiado fantásticas para ser reales, y lean el resto para no perderse las grandes enseñanzas de Sri Guru y Babaji.
