<p>The patterns of Chinese antique carpets has attracted attention of collectors . the patterns are subtle and beautiful; the colors are elegant and harmonious; the knitting craft is unique and fine; the regional culture shown on the carpet is distinct and rich. With accumulation of time and the maturation of culture, these antique carpet have become cultural arts instead of floor coverings. With the passage of time, on early carpets now remain. Most of existing carpets were produced in the Ming and Qing dynasties and re stored in the imperial palace, temples, museums and private collectors. There are fewer antique carpets stored in the folk society. Nearly one hundred antique carpets in the plates of this book are selected from the photographs of antique carpet pictures the author took during more than ten years. These antique carpets represent the artistic style and techniques of Chinese carpets of approximately two hundred years. This book also describes and explains the evolution of antique carpets and meanings of the patterns from historical and cultural points of view .</p>
