In order to focus on foreign capital flows with an immediate impact on productive capacity in the host country economy, he confines his discussion to private capital flows and excludes portfolio investments. His conclusion is that the impact of FDI on the economic development of host countries in the area is more profound and favorable now than in the colonial period.
