This book contains 13 Chapters organized in a logical and progressive manner. Elementary and common features are covered in earlier chapters beginning with Chapter 0 which briefly covers Windows 95 and continues on with the more complex and less common ones in later chapters. The primary objective of this text is help students learn and use Visual Basic's available features. It explains many intricate points and rules, using numerous short examples to help illustrate these points and rules. The accompanying disk contains longer practicle sample programs. Each chapter in Visual Basic 5 Coursebook contains a list of Key Terms, 30 drill questions including true-fales, MCQ's, matching, and fill-in, and 30 practice questions that ask the students to either write an essay answer or design user interfaces and write program code to perform tasks, there are also more involved and challenging problems contained in the Chapter Project, and the Fun and Game section which are entertaining programs which involve colours, graphics, and/or animation.

Visual Basic 5 Coursebook

This booklet provides students a broad but not indepth coverage of the World Wide Web, the Internet, HTML, and VBScript. As emphasis is placed on VBScript, general knowledge of Visual Basic would be an asset. There is a web site ( http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Lab/7590 ) that contains the texts' scripts and a CAI tutorial. The end of the book contains "Practice" and "Drill" exercises with the answers.

Students then learn to integrate the two to create useful applications. The text explains many intricate points and rules, and uses numerous short examples to help illustrate these points and rules. There are many pedagogical aids including 'Key Terms'; 'Drill' and 'Practice' questions; and 'Chapter Projects' in each chapter. The 'Drill' questions contain a combination of 30 true-false, multiple choice, matching, and fill-in-the-blank questions, and 30 'Practice' questions that require students to either write essay answers, design user interfaces and/or write program codes to perform tasks. The 'Chapter Project' problems contain half a dozen projects where students need to utilize the knowledge accumulated from the current and previous chapters to complete the projects. These are more involved and challenging compared to those found in the 'Practice' section. A disk accompanying the text includes the 'Drill' questions where the correct answer will be displayed if an incorrect response has been inputted, answers to the 'Practice' questions, and projects that require data for demonstration.
