<p>Kroghie Andresen has enjoyed hunting and the outdoors since his early teens in eastern North Carolina.  His waterfowl hunting experiences began when he first shot tow lesser scaup from a stake blind in the mouth of Bath Creek at the age of fifteen.  Since then his passion for hunting has grown and flourished.  While living in raleigh in 1979, his wife Ross, bought him his first decoy to decorate their new den.  This started a collection that has grown into over 1,100 North Carolina decoys.  An early decision to limit his collection to Back Bay, Virginia, and North Carolina decoys led to a very specialized collection.  Kroghie always tried to document the history and provenance of his decoys.  The lack of information on many North Carolina decoys led him to research many previously unidentified carvers as well as those that are well known.  This research and thirty years of collection decoys have culminated with this book.</p>
