<p>Kafka actually died before completing this novel, his friend Max Brod edited it for publication. It is questionable whether Kafka intended on finishing it if he had survived his tuberculosis, Kafka is aledged to have told Brod an ending for the story &amp; at another time he told Brod that he wasn't going to finish it. As it stands the novel ends in mid-sentence, Kafka had instructed Brod to destroy all his works upon his death including this unfinished work. Brod of course did not and "The Castle" was published two years after Kafka's death.  Dark and at times surreal, The Castle is about alienation, bureaucracy, the seemingly endless frustrations of man's attempts to stand against the system, and the futile and hopeless pursuit of an unobtainable goal. Classic Kafka in all its' symbolism, puzzling, dream-like darkness, very surreal and most of all a fascinating, original story that one comes to expect from tragic young writer.</p>

The Metamorphosis (German: Die Verwandlung, also sometimes translated as The Transformation) is a novella by Franz Kafka, first published in 1915. It has been called one of the seminal works of fiction of the 20th century and is studied in colleges and universities across the Western world. The story begins with a traveling salesman, Gregor Samsa, waking to find himself transformed (metamorphosed) into a large, monstrous insect-like creature. The cause of Gregor's transformation is never revealed, and Kafka himself never gave an explanation. The rest of Kafka's novella deals with Gregor's attempts to adjust to his new condition as he deals with being burdensome to his parents and sister, who are repelled by the horrible, verminous creature Gregor has become………

La metamorfosis o La transformación es un relato de Franz Kafka publicado en 1915 que narra la historia de Gregorio Samsa, un comerciante de telas que vive con su familia a la que él mantiene con su sueldo, quien un día amanece convertido en un enorme insecto. En ocasiones el título es traducido como La transformación. Esto se debe a que en alemán, la voz Verwandlung corresponde a 'cambio', 'transformación', 'conversión', 'reducción', 'mutación', y solo como 'metamorfosis' cuando apunta al lenguaje de la mitología clásica. De hecho, la palabra en alemán para denominar metamorfosis, es Metamorphose, término que registra claramente su equivalencia y que le haría prescindir de la voz Verwandlung para su traslación idiomática. Esto supone además, la existencia de otro sustantivo con valor semántico independiente. Por ello, y además, optar por la palabra metamorfosis podría significar elegir un sustantivo muy concreto y atinente a cierto sector de la literatura, como es en este caso, la griega. De ahí en adelante «pueden cometerse errores hermenéuticos peculiares y sesgados, como valorizar la obra por su carácter de 'fantástica transmutación' o 'suceso extraordinario', tan propios de las artes escritas en Grecia, pero impropias en la narrativa Kafkiana»
