کتابی که در دست دارید، زیر نظرِ مستقیم دکتر یالوم و طی مکاتبات فراوان میان مترجم و ایشان، ترجمه شده است و علی‌رغمِ تلاش‌ها و پیگیری‌های فراوانِ ناشر محترم، مذاکره برای خریدِ حق ترجمه به صورت قانونی _به علت پاره‌ای از مشکلات در قرارداد_ ممکن نشد؛ گرچه در نهایت ایشان با سخاوتِ تمام نه تنها موافقتِ ضمنی خود را از بابتِ چاپ و نشرِ این کتاب اعلام کردند، بلکه برای مترجم، در کنار آرزوی خیر، تشویق‌نامه‌ای هم فرستادند. 
عنوانِ این کتاب که در اصل 
“Becoming Myself” 
می‌باشد، انتخابِ خودِ نویسنده نیست و ایشان بارها اظهار داشته‌اند که اگر می‌شد، این عنوان را تغییر می‌دادند و اگر به ناچار نبود، تن به انتخابِ ناشرشان (بیسیک بوکز) در نمی‌دادند. عنوانِ انتخابی ایشان جمله‌ای از نیچه بود که بارها چراغِ روشنگرِ راه زندگی‌شان بوده است: 
"زندگی این بود؟ چه بهتر، دوباره!" 
در نتیجه، نه تنها در ترجمه‌ی فارسیِ این اثر، بلکه در اغلب ترجمه‌های این اثر به زبان‌های دیگر، از سوی نویسنده این تغییرِ نام صورت پذیرفته است. عنوانِ دومِ کتاب، یعنی "به خود رسیدن" نیز زیر نظر ایشان ترجمه‌ی صحیحِ عنوانِ اصلی قلمداد شده است. به گفته‌ی ایشان منظور از این عنوان "یالوم شدن" یا "من شدن" یا امثالهم نبوده است؛ بلکه در مفهومی عام، دست یافتن به شخصیتِ خود و به بیانی دیگر یافتنِ مسیرِ مختص به هر کس می‌باشد. 
در همین راستا برای ایجاد تطابق میان فرهنگ ما و دکتر یالوم و در نتیجه، حفظِ تمام و کمالِ اثر در پروسه‌ی ترجمه، پاورقی‌هایی اضافه شدند تا روشنگر راه باشند و نیازی به اصلاح ارشادی و فرهنگی در این اثر دیده نشود. پس اثری که در دست دارید عینِ اثرِ اصلی است؛ گرچه به ضمِّ اضافات و صدالبته بدون حذفیات! 
امید است که مقبولِ پسند شما خواننده‌ی محترم نیز بیافتد.
