Auch bei den Gluhkopfmotoren hat man kurzzeitige Verbrennung der gesamten Brennstoffmenge mit kraftiger Drucksteigerung (vgl. Abb. 254). Der Gluhkopfmotor wird fast nur als Zweitaktmotor gema Abb. 254 mit Schlitzausla und Schlitzspulung ausgefuhrt. Die Spul-und Ladeluft erzeugt der Motor selbst, indem der Kurbel- kasten luftdicht abgeschlossen und mit Saugventilen versehen ist, so da der hochgehende Kolben Luft ansaugt, die er beim Niedergange auf etwa 0,3 atu verdichtet. Die Spulluft tritt durch die Spulschlitze e in den Zylinder, nachdem die Verbrennungsgase durch die Auspuffschlitze verpufft sind. Die Wirkungsweise wird durch die in der Abb. 254 enthaltenen Diagramme des Motors und seines Geblaseteils veranschaulicht. Wegen des konstruktiven Zusammenhanges ist die vom Kolben augesaugte Spul-und Ladeluftmenge zu klein, so da das Gemisch bald zur Halfte aus Abgasen besteht, weswegen nur maige Treibdrucke erzielbar sind und hoherer Brennstoffbedarf die Folge ist. Die bis zu Leistungen von 75 PS gebauten Gluhkopfmotoren sind sehr verbreitet und uberall dort am Platze, wo auf Einfachheit im Aufbau und in der Be- dienung und auf geringe Anschaffungskosten Wert gelegt wird. 134. Vergleich zwischen Ottomotoren und Diesebnotoren. Der Ottomotor kann infolge der geringeren Triebwerkdrucke leichter gebaut werden. Seine Mindestleistung ist nicht be- grenzt, wogegen fur Dieselmotoren die untere Leistungsgrenze bei 2 bis 3 PS liegt. Im allge- meinen uberwiegen jedoch die Vorteile des Dieselmotors.
