Hinie milked the cows by hand and plowed the fields with a handheld plow, walking behind workhorses, Maud and Daize. Ellen washed with a ringer washing machine and hung her clothes out to dry. The book describes the many chores necessary for operating a farm and tending the home and garden in the olden days. The book contains a foreword written by Wendell Van Gunst, son of Henry and Ellen, and owner of Country Dairy.
