U.S. Deputy Marshall Selden Lindsey served from 1890 until the early 1900's in Eastern Texas and from the Ardmore Court in southern Indian Territory. The Dalton gang had robbed the bank in Longview, Texas on May 25, 1894 and killed several town residents. Lindsey led a posse that went after the gang, and he shot and killed Bill Dalton on June 8, 1894. After retiring as Deputy Marshall, Lindsey ranched near Ardmore, Oklahoma.
