Details of daily life down to food, furniture, tools, and social customs. Though the information is sometimes not organized as accessibly as it could be, this is a true classic research resource.

Along a Highland Road is a lively account of life in the Highlands over the centuries based on events and stories associated with a dozen or so miles of the A9 where it crosses the valley of the Findhorn (Strathdearn) on the way from Aviemore to Inverness.
