My inspiration comes from the twelve-step philosophies and the impact that God has had in my life. My psychology background has helped me achieve my career; however, it is not where I attribute most of my learning experiences. My lessons came from the everyday trials and low points of my life. A life-changing event is a situation that changes your life as you have been living it. If you experience a life-changing event that is happy, such as marriage or birth, you will alter your life to celebrate such joy. However, if you experience a life-changing event that alters your life in a sorrowful way, such as death or divorce, you will mourn the passing and you will alter your life in order to survive. If you have experienced this type of life-changing event, please know that survival is not only possible-it is probable. The definition of survival is to outlive, or live beyond. Being a survivor is a natural instinct that allows us to meet life's challenges while our soul is given the opportunity for growth.
