Peter was the most prominent of the twelve disciples. He also became the main spokesman for the early church in Jerusalem. But it does appear that he did not stay in Jerusalem but traveled among the early churches including some that Paul had established. When in Babylon, he wrote his two letters to the churches in the five provinces of Asia Minor. Persecution against the Christians was on the rise and the pressure was building. In his first letter, Peter wrote to encourage the believers to remember that they were strangers and pilgrims in the world traveling toward heaven. He tells them how to handle persecution from outside the church. In his second letter, he warns them of false teachers from inside the church. He reminds them of the basic truths of their faith and stimulates them to grow spiritually because he expected to die soon. Jude was the half-brother of the Lord and believed on Christ sometime after His death. The book of Jude is devoted entirely to the subject of apostasy or "falling away" from the truth and was written sometime after Peter wrote his two letters. Peter warns the believers that false teachers are coming, Jude says that they have already "crept in unnoticed".
