<p>The Goose Rangers, a home guard unit during the Civil War, was captained by Charles Myurphy who also served as a foreman on the New York central. His tomboy daughters, Sarah and Maggie, placed fishers in an uproar upon many occasions. One such time was when they instituted an "attack" on the local arsenal the week after the Confederates' raid on St. Albans, Vermont. The panic they caused weas long remembered.
