Every year in the Texas Legislature, the first bill brought up for consideration is one to secede from the Union. It has always been ceremonial. However, on March 1, 2022, Texas State Senator John Lucas IV, changes all of that with these words: "When the President, Supreme Court and Congress took office they took one oath - that oath was not to devalue our currency by taking us off of the gold standard.
