Don Gates, a native of Minnesota, attended the University of Minnesota and Metropolitan State University.  His primary employment has been in various state, city and federal programs in human service field, mostly in counseling.  

His poems have been published in many newspapers and magazines and in several books including this part autobiographical book of poems.
