This book is an attempt to reconcile Plutarch's biography of Pericles and Thucydides' "History of the Peloponnesian War". The author does this by "reorganizing Plutarch's biography topically and chronologically and inserting in the proper places the speeches and other germane comments of Thucydides, along with two additional references from Aristophanes and Pliny the Younger." The book includes study questions to facilitate greater discussion.
