Daley has developed into one of Australia's most admired sporting identities - as much for his ability with the oval ball as for an endearing personality which has remained unspoiled by the capricious nature of modern professional sport. Veteran Laurie Daley's versatility is like a bottle of fine red wine - it gets more valuable and appreciated with age. Laurie Daley is hero to thousands of rugby league supporters throughout Australia. His class and uncanny anticipation have been admired at football stadiums and on television screens for over a decade - from the time he stepped from the rural town of Junee as a teenager and into first grade with the Canberra Raiders - and then onto to the national and international stage. Joining the Canberra Raiders in 1987, 'Lozza' is an inspirational leader and a great player. His achievements are many, having played nearly 200 games, scoring over 400 points. In 1995, he was named the Dally M Player of the Year, and in 1997 was awarded the Telstra Medal, for being the Super League Player of the Year. In addition to this, he has played 24 tests for Australia and over 20 State of Origin games for New South Wales. He has captained the NSW Tri-Series.
