<p>Remembering the Messiah is a two-part fictional story with Simon of Cyrene and Mary Magdalene as the central characters. Considering that both were key figures in the Biblical account of Jesus' death and resurrection, it is remarkable how little we know about them. Remembering the Messiah is not an attempt to portray what actually happened between Mary and Simon. It is, rather, a work of fiction designed to portray what could have happened among the many followers of Jesus in the aftermath of the most dramatic events in human history. It is a story of what might have been. The first disciples were human, just like us. Their story did not begin with their first encounter with the Rabbi from Galilee, nor did their story end at an empty tomb. Mary and Simon are, like the new faith which they bore witness to, a matter of great mystery.</p>
