A man who made his career in the Air Force, octogenarian and retired Colonel Dan Hicky reveals the frequently unspoken heart of the “greatest generation” in this collection of his poetry, which begins pre-WWII and ends in the present. With “back stories” for each of the poems, Col. Hicky lets us look through eyes that have deteriorated in a physical sense, but have clearly never lost their vision. Col. Hicky and his wife, Hattie Mina, retired to their hometown of Madison, Georgia in 1972. Though he suffers from macular degeneration and glaucoma, Col. Hicky writes a poetry column each week for the Morgan County (GA) Citizen.
