Like a ship captain's logbook, Log records observations of one's surroundings, in particular of movements in architecture and contemporary culture. Log fills the void in American architectural publishing that has existed since the closing of ANY and the journal Assemblage by providing a venue for criticism and a discussion of contemporary work and ideas. Edited by Cynthia Davidson (editor of ANY), Log includes articles by established scholars and critics as well as the work of emerging writers. Log 2 features essays by Bernard Khoury, Phyllis Lambert, Julie Rose, and Sarah Whiting, reflecting the diversity of the cross-cultural discussion on the condition of architecture and contemporary culture.

Log 20: Curating Architecture (Fall 2010) Having followed the expanding use of the term curating over the recent years, its traditions within architecture can no longer go unexamined. Log 20, published on the occasion of the 12th Venice Architecture Biennale, considers curating architecture both within its contemporary guises and historical lineage. "The center of architecture is shifting and cannot hold," writes guest editor Bryony Roberts in Log 48: Expanding Modes of Practice. This moment of change, in which issues of inequity and intersectionality are coming to the fore, represents "an invitation to think differently, a chance to reask the questions that haunted the 20th century."
