The Mothers' Group is the story of four women - Molly, an all-American beauty from Chicago who abandons a budding law career, Elise, an entrenched yet irreverent socialite who eschews all social conventions, Jennifer, a sassy local architect who leads a bohemian lifestyle and Claire, a neurotic and patrician New Englander who's hiding from her former life - whose lives intersect when they join a mothers' group in San Francisco. Each is searching for something different in the sophisticated and secretive Mothers' Group and each is surprised when she finds that her life starts taking a new and unexpected path. Their lives become complicated as they navigate the urbane and quirky world of San Francisco where their Mothers' Group is not simply a playgroup in the park.
