This book gives a lot of background material on both the earlier flooding and the geological history of the areas in Louisiana affected by the flood (near the Mississippi River). Levees broke, people fled and refugees were inoculated from possible cholera and other diseases associated with unsanitary living conditions. This book is out of print and a gem, especially for Louisiana history buffs and those interested in flood control.</p>
