In this book Endless Helix, which is in two parts, Ban'ya Natsuishi in the first part named Concentric Circles has created poetry which has essence that transverses all borders, investing them with an universal appeal. In the second part named Dreams, the poet has experimented with conventional Haiku by extrapolating it to the form of normally practised poetry but still retaining the Haiku characteristics. Some of these 'dream' poems are creations from his recent dreams and a few from his childhood dreams which have left an everlasting impression on him. Let me quote what the poet himself feels about these 'dream' poems: 'While preparing this (Right Eye in Twilight) Haiku collection, I thought I must remember dreams and write longer poems than Haiku. My writing Haiku is always with some depth, while my writing short poems needs some depth. I found the depth of 'dreams' for writing short poem. My remembering dreams after awakening must be at the crucial time or the period of transition'. Ban'ya Natsuishi believes that one principal purpose of Haiku is to discover something new in everything and to reveal it to the world. While travelling through the concentric circle certainly one would rediscover oneself in a different expression. With great restrain I am refraining from quoting a few lines from this book. Rather, let me take the opportunity to welcome everyone to be my fellow traveller. Let the journey begin.
