<p>This edition of the Guide offers updated guidance for the inclusion and use of 59 database and transcript components, as well as discussions on how current practices and advice are evolving. A four-level scale (Essential, Recommended, Optional, or Not Recommended) is used to evaluate each component for suitability for the transcript and/or the database. In addition, up-to-date advice is provided for contemporary issues such as: -Notation of academic and disciplinary actions on the transcript -Recording of co- and extra-curricular activities on an extended transcript -Prior learning assessment -Recording of chosen names and pronouns -Requirements for change of name and gender -Reissuance of diplomas The committee members that contributed to this Guide are all subject matter experts who relied on recent AACRAO surveys and studies on topics such as transcript practices, student identity, and prior learning assessment to learn how processes are changing and developing. The collected data represents many hundreds of responses from members and were carefully reviewed to ensure the recommendations in this Guide are comprehensive and reflect the current thinking of the higher education community. This work will be of immediate and continuing use to registrars and data stewards of all types. It assists higher education professionals in their work to ensure the accurate, timely, and secure sharing of information in order to advance student success.</p>
