 About the Author 
Né en 1916 à New York, George Allen Aarons doit son surnom « Slim » à sa très grande taille et à sa maigreur. Enrôlé à 18 ans dans l’armée américaine, il est affecté au laboratoire photo et commence en 1940 sa collaboration avec des publications militaires. En 1945, Slim Aarons est photographe free-lance à Hollywood, avant de s’installer à Rome trois ans plus tard. Il couvre alors pour Life les événements et tournages italiens. En 1950, il revient à New York et travaille pour Holiday, puis pour Flair, Harper’s Bazaar et Vogue notamment.
