| Jun 2010 | I had a very undesirable experience with this company! I used their pre-paid label, but I also purchased delivery confirmation at the post office. The book was delivered in 5 days. After 2 weeks I called the customer service number to see if the book had been processed. The lady that I spoke with said that the book was never received. I told her that I had purchased delivery confirmation and that it said the book was delivered. She still insisted that the book was not received. After reading other reviews on this website, I decided to file a claim with the Utah BBB. Magically, 1 day after I filed a claim with the BBB, I received an e-mail stating that my book was received and a check would be processed. If you deal with this company, be prepared to file a claim with the BBB in order to get your money!!! | |
| May 2010 | My experience with etextshop has been nothing but positive. The quotes are timely and accurate, the customer service is exemplary, and the turn around time is good. I have a feeling that those that have submitted the very miserable reviews are probably the same people who try to send dog-eared and marked up books with torn covers and missing pages, yet they expect the top dollar. My textbooks are always well cared for, and I do not mark in most of them. If I do, I do not expect a premium price to be paid for them. When I was a first time seller to them, they even matched some competitors' prices on that shipment to get me to use their business more in the future. This site is just like all others: the malcontents always make the most noise, and they can ruin a good business with their false and misleading accusations. John |

| Mar 2010 | Scam. They offer high bids and free shipping to lure suckers like me in. Then they have a host of methods for either giving you way less or, in my case, giving you nothing. If you address their scamming directly they simply shout you down. | |
| Mar 2010 | I wish I read reviews on this site. Major ripoff. Here is the copy-paste from my sale order with them. In a nutshell: the final price is less then half of what they promised. | Feb 2010 | I have also very bad experience dealing with this company. I send 2 used books and 1 new wrapped them up. The estimation cost was pretty good. But then they claim the books were received in wet conditions. The check was kind of a joke. I asked to provide me with any proof about the receiving conditions of my books. But they can’t proof anything. REPRESENTATIVE told me that she can send books to me if I pay for shipping and return check to them back. I asked to transfer me to the department who is dealing with the customers’ complains she hang up on me. After I tried to call the second time I just got the voice-mail. It was not my first time selling the textbooks and I never had any issues with the other companies even located in West Cost that is far than Utah from NY. IT’S TOTAL SCAM. DON’T DEAL WITH ETEXTSHOP.COM. |

| Nov 2009 | Ok i am a major retailer of textbooks.. i sell over 10,000 textbooks per year.. i had two study guides left over that wernt being used at my college i was about to sell them on half.com for 15 dollars each but i canceled teh transaction when i this site said tehy would give me 20 each for used and 40 each for new.. they were both brand new student study guides.. when they received them they told me they were instructors editions which is an out right lie.. as there is not even a instructor edition study guide.. then when i confronted them about it they told me that they were bent corners and so were used so i said fin just give me the used price even though i bubble wrapped these and shrinkwrapped these brand new unopened books.. i got a check for 4 dollars for BOTH BOOKS.. DO not use this site.. use any other site.. they are liars and they are scammers.. and thats alot coming from me because im a huge liar and scammer but these guys take the cake | |
| Oct 2009 | Wow, pretty surreal... MY experience with using etextshop to sell books to has been a lot different than the rest of the reviewers, that's forsure. I've used etextshop three times so far, twice in the last month, and once last year, and each time they've paid exactly what they stated for each of my textbooks ( a total of 8 books so far ) and have - thus far - not downgraded any of the books that I stated as in new condition. [ contrast this to bookbyte.com, who are very, VERY picky about new condition books [ even shrinkwrapped books are quick to be downgraded, and you have to fight with customer service and argue ] ( I still use bookbyte, though, and a lot more often than etextshop, but for different reasons, so this isn't meant to be a swipe against bookbyte - but it's best knowing going in what you are likely to encounter.) If I had come across the rest of the reviews here on bookscouter.com regarding etextshop, I would have never tried them. Thus, i am very puzzled as to why my experience is so contrary to everyone else's. Be that as it may, all I can say is that I've personally found them (so far) to be quick, convenient, usually within the top 4 for best prices offered, and a pleasant experience to deal with. The only thing that I can think of that would make etextshop better is if they offered the option to pay me through PayPal instead of just by check. Oh, and i would like to say that I am in no way affiliated with etextshop - I don't work for them, I don't know any of the employees or the owner(s), or anything like that (and i certainly am not being paid to recommend them). It's just that I am a former college student who happens to be an occasional seller of textbooks [ as a sideline] on half.com, ebay and blujay.com [ seller name duanemeister on ebay and half, booksiberia on blujay ] and occasionally I need to sell off the excess books that didn't sell for some reason. I've used bookbyte.com, etextshop.com and FacultyBooks.com recently[ September and October of 2009], and so far I really like etextshop (for whatever my recommendation is worth). Just to be clear, however, many of my textbooks are near-mint condition, and very few of the books I sell are anything less than excellent condition. So if the books you submit are in less than great shape, i can't actually vouch for what etextshop, bookbyte, or any other buyback site actually does. However, if it should happen that someone relies on my recommendation of etextshop and your experience is contary to mine, I would really appreciate hearing from you. I would hate to have recommended someone to others and then have that come back on me. Not so long ago i was a college student myself, and i would have loved to have gotten a head's-up, you know?. | Aug 2009 | I found this website the day after I sent a box of books to etextshop.com and began to panic because of the bad feedback. I mailed my box with the free shipping label from their site and I also paid 80 cents at the post office for a delivery confirmation that allow me to track the package. It arrived 1 week after being sent, I received an e-mail that my shipment was received and reviewed and I got the $326 that was originally quoted and the check arrived 1 week later. 2 weeks total from time books ship unitl check in my hand. | |
| Aug 2009 | This website is AWFUL and a SCAM. I will be reporting them to the attorney general in Utah seeing as how they are not even registered with the BBB. I sent them two textbooks which they said they would pay me $90 and ended up seding me a check not even worth one book. I have yet to put the check in my account because Im worried they will steal all my account info if I deposit that check. SO DO NOT USE THEM!!!!!!! | |
| Jul 2009 | This company is a SCAM! They will claim that your package has been "lost" in the mail. . There is no way to track the package. All Nanci, the "manager," will do is apologize. DO NOT USE THEM! | |
| Jun 2009 | This company is a scam and I suggest anyone who has had problems with them file a claim with the BBB. I sent them 5 brand new copies of a textbook that had previously been bought direct from the publisher in shrink wrap. They received the books but then claimed that they were instructor's editions even though the ISBN was for the student edition. "Some instructor's editions have student edition ISBNs" according to them. There were no annotations, no answers, nothing on the cover that said they were instructor's editions. Anyways, I had more copies of the book on hand so I called them with the book in front of me explaining their error. The lady on the phone spent 15 minutes arguing with me about how the book was an instructor's edition blah blah blah. I'm not an idiot and I know when I am being lied to and scammed. She eventually offered to have me pay for the return shipping for the books because according to her they were worthless. These people are rude, offensive, and total scammers. I hope they are taken off this site. | |
| Jun 2009 | I would have given them a 0 if possible! I sold them 3 books, and they owe me $111.50, it's been a month since I sent the books, and they say they haven't received the books. I filed a complaint with the BBB yesterday! Stay away from etextshop they are a bunch of crooks!!!!! | |
| Apr 2009 | Horrible. WILL NOT PAY. I had to submit a BBB complaint against them and they finally, reluctantly paid. Months later. Stay away from at all costs... | |
| Mar 2009 | I agree with the listed below.. I sent 2 brand new books and they said they had watermarks on them... They also said a check was issued on Feb 26th and it is now March 21st and I have not received any check so far. | |
| Mar 2009 | DO NOT USE THE FREE SHIPPING LABEL. It cannot be tracked and therefore they will claim they did not receive it. They will give some lame excuse after the fact about how it was listed in the FAQ's that the seller is responsible for using a method that tracks the package if they don't want it to get lost. They have it all prepared when conveniently they do not receive the package. I kept following up with them for two months and they kept telling that they haven't received it yet and it could be on it's way and finally after two months they gave me their schpeal about lost packages and directed me to USPS but it 60 days had gone by and you can no longer make a claim. How easy is it to make money when you claim you never received something? Don't use eTextShop.com! | |
| Mar 2009 | I would have rated them a zero if that was possible. They did the exact same thing to me (found a defect in my book they quoted me the highest) and now say they will not return the book to me, a rare edition, even though I have offered to cover the shipping costs. I wish I had done a simple google search on them before I mailed them my books (search after the fact led me to this site). I am curious to see how many others have had similar problems. If I am unable to resolve this to my satisfaction, I will be looking into what legal remedies I have available to me. |

| Dec 2008 | They will find a defect in your book so they don't have to pay you and then they will keep your book and simply give you an apology worth nothing.DON'T USE THEM |
